Workshops

First Half

Community Stadia Research

SD has been doing some research on Community Stadia across theUK. In this workshop we'll introduce our findings, providing best practice on asset protection, community asset ownership and discuss how clubs can make their stadiums not just places where people go for matches, but a real part of their communities.

Elite Player Performance Plan

Introduced in late 2011, the Elite Player Performance Plan was described by the Premier League as “a long-term strategy designed to take Premier League Youth Development to the next level.” In this workshop, we will hear from those affected by EPPP, and discuss the pros and cons of the plan for football in theUK.

Kick it Out/Show Racism the Red Card

Familiar names for manyUKfootball fans, Show Racism the Red Card and Kick It Out have been campaigning tirelessly since the 1990’s to ensure that racism is eliminated from our game. This joint session will provide an insight into their vital work, and how you can help.

Supporter Liaison

Many of you will know that under Article 35 of the 2010 UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play Regulations, clubs acrossEuropewill be required to appoint a Supporter Liaison Officer before the beginning of the 2012/13 season. Supporters Direct were appointed by UEFA to implement the SLO requirement, and this workshop will provide an update on what an SLO does, the response to the project, and how you can get involved.

Second Half

Community Shares

SD have been funded to deliver a number of community share offers for sports co-operatives over the next two years. Community Shares offers a unique and potential powerful method of helping convert football clubs into community ownership and also allowing supporters’ trusts to raise finance for assets in partnership with their clubs.

Football Governance

This workshop will talk about the recent inquiry by the British Parliament into how football is run, its conclusions, and what supporters can do to make sure we get some positive change in the future!

Jonathan Wilson

Jonathan Wilson is a widely respected football author and historian. In this workshop he'll be discussing the finer tactical points in a question and answer format.

200% Insolvency

Ian King from the blog 200% is a writer on football from the sharp-end, often penning pieces about football insolvency and clubs in crisis. The blog he established is now recognised as something of an authority on matters financial in the game, but with no little coverage on the reason we all love it (the 90 mins, of course!). In fact his blog picked up and kept going the important work previously done by the Brighton and Hove Albion Supporters Club on their Clubs in Crisis website.

Ian will explain the basics of how clubs go insolvent in English football, and speak about the process from the perspective of those who are owed money (creditors) and those who have to pay it out (the administrators).

SD AGM

Supporters’ trusts who are full members of Supporters Direct are eligible to vote at the AGM. An agenda and voting details will be sent out in due course.
